The body ends with the wings

This duet emphasizes the magnetic, circular qualities of grief, and illuminates paradoxes within presence and absence. In collaboration with resident poet of the International Writers Program (IWP), Anna Davtyan, the dance is a part of the annual collaboration between the IWP and the Dance Department. The dance emerges from Davtyan’s poem Unending, Unceasing, Untiring, Circling Around the Bird which is featured excerpted in its original Armenian and English translation in the dance.

The body ends with the wings premiered on November 1st, 2024, at Space Place Theater in Iowa City presented by Hancher Auditorium. The dance features dancers Ellie Daley and Lauren Linder alongside sculpture artist Mahsa Falahbafekrlialestani.
